Nearly 6,000 students with special education needs were enrolled in Botswana’s secondary schools, according to Statistics Botswana, highlighting the scale of the challenge facing the country as it works to build a more inclusive education system.
The figure represented students across all 10 education regions, with the Central region recording the largest number at 1,809, followed by South East with 1,588. Chobe had the lowest enrolment, with just eight students identified as having special education needs.
