Ntlo ya Dikgosi in collaboration with Orange Botswana will host the annual Ntlo ya Dikgosi Culture Day on October 31st, 2015 at Tashy’s Gardens, along the Lobatse road. The event was initiated for Dikgosi to celebrate the diversity of Botswana’s culture as well as to raise funds for charity. All proceeds from event will be channelled towards various charitable projects chosen collectively by the House.
Consisting of 35 members, Ntlo ya Dikgosi Chiefs from different Botswana tribes, will each be the custodian of their tribe’s culture hence the perfect opportunity for Batswana and Chiefs to celebrate and appreciate the diversity of all the tribes.
The daylong event will feature various culture centric activities including traditional Setswana games like Koi and Mhele, to mention but a few. Local artists among them Ndhingo Johwa, Dikakapa, Shumba Ratshega and Mafitlhakgosi will provide entertainment and the crowd will also be treated to traditional cuisine and beverages.
The Honourable Minister of Youth Sports and Culture, Thapelo Olopeng, is expected to officiate at the event. “Ntlo ya Dikgosi Culture Day is just one way that as an Organization we are proud to reach out to the people of Botswana as well as fulfil our mandate and commitment of supporting the preservation of local culture,” says Boga Chilinde Masebu, Orange PR and Foundation Manager.
She also added that: “Because this is a culture day, we expect our patrons to come dressed up in their traditional attire. Come out in large numbers and let’s celebrate our beautiful culture.”
Tickets for the event cost P250 which includes entrance to the event and traditional cuisine.
