Botsalo Ntuane’s campaign team is due in Gantsi this coming weekend to woo supporters to rally behind him for the position of Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Secretary General in a bid to parry threat posed by his main rival contender Olebile Ngwakwena.
The ruling Botswana Democratic Party Western Region which consists of Kgalagadi and Gantsi constituencies will descend on Gantsi township to select and nominate a new committee at the weekend.
The constituencies are the backyard of Ngwakwena, who comes from Hunkuntsi village in Kgalagadi north constituency.
Ntuane’s campaign team will take advantage of the gathering to canvass support for their candidate.
Gaborone Region Secretary Kingsley Kgomoyarona confirmed this.
“We will be in Gantsi to canvass votes for him. I will be there on my capacity as the Gaborone Region Secretary while he will be there as the Chairman.”
Ngwakwena, Ntuane and Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri are expected to lock horns for the position of Secretary General.
Ngwakwena’s campaign is hinged on the issue of loyalty and has made headlines on local media houses warning fellow BDP followers not to forget their party split and the perpetrators, certainly taking a jab at Ntuane.
Ntuane has since met fellow BDP followers south of Dibete, who have since promised to support him.
