Profligate Mexican Girls held by BDF XI Ladies

Mexican Girls were made to rue their profligacy in front of the goalposts and goalkeeping blunders as they were held to a 3 ÔÇô 3 draw by BDF XI ladies.

The two teams squared off in an entertaining Kweneng Region Women Football League match played at the Gaborone West grounds this past Sunday.

A hat trick from three well taken set pieces by BDF XI’s Onneile Rakaki was enough to cancel out Mexican Girls whose goals came through Segakolodi ‘Nunuberry’ Didukanyane and Keitumetse ‘Ben 10′ Dithebe.

While BDF XI Ladies were happy with the shared points from both teams’ opening game of the season, it was not the same feeling for Mexican Girls, who despite giving BDF XI ladies a torrid time, failed to convert the numerous chances that came their way.

Mexican Girls should have taken a lead a few minutes early in the game only for forwards Galekhute and Dithebe to miss when scoring seemed a much easier option.

BDF XI then made them pay for their profligacy midway through the first half when Rakaki netted her first goal of the match from a set piece after Mexican Girls defender Gosaitse Aleck had been adjudged to have appended a goal bound BDF XI player. For her troubles, Aleck earned herself a yellow and became the only player booked from the match.

The goal spurred Mexican Girls into action as they hounded BDF XI in search of an equaliser. They were duly rewarded late in the first half as Didukanyane converted a penalty to ensure both teams go to recess on level terms.

From recess, it was again Mexican Girls who dictated play and seemed on course to take all the three points as Dithebe, who was a constant threat finished off what was a flowing team play before notching yet another goal for her brace.

Mexican Girls were however undone by poor defense and goalkeeping errors yet again in the second half as Rakaki netted twice from directly taken set pieces to notch her hat trick and ensure both teams shared spoils.

In other games played in the Kweneng Region Women Football league, Sikalekeke beat Lulu 7 ÔÇô 0, Mvela won 4 ÔÇô 0 against Divine Brains while Makufa thrashed Kumakwane 14 ÔÇô 0.

Meanwhile, the Kweneng Region Women league will continue this coming weekend with Mexican Girls taking on Mvela in what is a grudge match between the two rival teams.
