See no evil Head-teacher demoted in Ledumang School sex scandal

The headmaster of Ledumang senior secondary Peter Moalusi has been demoted by the Ministry of Education and Skills Development following investigations into reports that he was turning a blind eye at reports that a senior teacher at the school was dating students. The senior teacher accused of having love relationships with students, Tumelo Banda has been fired from teaching.

Scores of teachers at Ledumang secondary school were in shock this week describing the ministry’s decision to demote the head teacher of Head of Department (HOD) as harsh. The South East Region Director Benson Rauwe said confirmed that Leadumang headmaster who had been on suspension for few months has been demoted from headmaster to HOD.

He said the former headmaster has now been transferred to Madiba Secondary School in Mahalapye.

He announced that the headmaster of Shoshong secondary school Spencer Rantlaleng has been transferred to head Ledumang as the new headmaster of the school. “He took his new appointment at the beginning of last December” he said. He warned teachers who are involved in love relations with students that the ministry will not condone such acts and once caught such perpetrators will be dismissed from the teaching fraternity.

Handy Motiki, the Industrial Relations manager at Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union BOSETU said he was not in a position to discuss their client in the press. “I cannot comment whether the decision that the ministry took against their client was fair or not”, he said.
