Streethorn Promotions and Brincat Production this week announced that jazz vocalist, Tuduetso ‘Shanti Lo’ Loeto, has been confirmed to perform at the Kingswood Theatre annual National Arts Festival that is hosted in Grahamstown from July 2 ÔÇô 11.
Shanti Lo’s management, Streethorn, says this move “is indeed a big step for Shanti Lo to launch his music career on an international level and an opportunity we can’t miss”. It is also a first for Botswana for a home-grown musician to be accorded the opportunity to represent the nation at a festival of this magnitude.
Streethorn said that they have only managed to secure a small grant from the Department of Culture and Youth for Shanti Lo’s participation, for which they are very grateful.
“It is a harsh reality for us that this grant makes up only a quarter of our overall budget.
“Shanti Lo takes with him a group of 12 very talented musicians and crew to cover the costs of the whole 11 days in Grahamstown. We therefore plead with the general public or any interested individuals, companies or organizations to assist, financially or otherwise, this cause and make it possible for this group of artists and the nation of Botswana.”
