A case for a Military Museum in Botswana

I spent this past weekend in Maun where I was attending a wedding and all of us as the family of the bride were accommodated in tents. It was quite an experience for all of us but for me, my tent was perched next to an old DAF truck that used to be in service while I served at BDF.

Waking up next to this truck every morning brought about nostalgia on part. I asked myself if BDF is keeping any one of these trucks for a future museum. Every military equipment has like a personality and this is the reason why all of them have to be preserved for future generations.

I have written about the need for a military museum before but it’s been eight years or so since that article was published but BDF has not moved an inch. While they are doing nothing about it, we continue to loose vital equipment as they become obsolete and getting out of service.
