Water Utilities Corporation Chief Executive Officer Gaselemogwe Senai has rubbished claims suggesting that he was part of a panel that awarded a tender to his relative.
Indications are that Senai is a victim of a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing the WUC P10 billion mega project.
Senai last week distanced himself from the award of the tender to Mentro a company owned by his relative.
In an interview with Sunday Standard, Senai pointed out that the record will bear him out that he did not take any part in the award because he recused himself as one of the bidders Tlhomo Mpngwaketse was a relative.
“And Remember that this job was awarded under the old procurement system by the board. It happened before the law was changed”, he explained.
Curiously the claim has neither been reported to the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime nor filed with the WUC anonymous whistle blowing system which is managed by Deloitte.
Indications are that the campaign is being run as a rumor to evade fact checking.
